Mindful Work: Prioritizing Mental Health in Your Career

By:

Team WISE

Being in a sales profession can be stressful especially when your performance is measured by hitting and exceeding sales targets and quotas. This could potentially lead to burnout very quickly. While pressures at work are unavoidable, prioritizing mental health in your career will help you set boundaries and stay focused to reach your professional goals.

In our panel discussion “Mindful Work,” our panelists Dex Jones (Axonius), Cassandra Light (Donaldson), and Katie Capuzzo (WISE) shared valuable insights on mindfulness at work and strategies to support your mental health and your career.

Here are some key takeaways to guide you in your professional journey.

Prepare, prepare, prepare.

Get ahead of your week, your upcoming OOO, your kid's school play and build in time for yourself on your calendar. Know what you want and indulge yourself with those that you enjoy. Trust us, your future self will thank you.

Check in with yourself.

This daily practice keeps your mind and body aligned. Are you thirsty? Do you need a change of scenery? How's your focus-level? Make this a habit by putting a space in your calendar for these self check-ins.

Embrace the power of "no".

Set boundaries and, here's the hard part, STICK TO THEM. Try committing to one extra-curricular at a time. While you can also be flexible, having these boundaries in place will help you decide when you should say no.

Nothing is more important than your mental wellness, and no one else will look after it but you. So whether you are a sales leader or an individual contributor, encourage and practice mindfulness at work, set time in your calendar for mental health check-ins and breaks, and make this a habit.
