Here are some key takeaways:

Why does mindset matter?

Our bodies respond to stress that is real, imagined, or anticipated. Our survival response is triggered from stress which increases cortisol and adrenaline, and suppresses immunity, rest and digestion.

What can we do about it?

REGULATE

  1. Calm your nervous system
  • Try box breathing by inhaling 4 seconds, exhaling 4 second and holding your breath 4 seconds.
  1. Practice self-compassion
  • Instead of criticizing yourself “for being a failure,” show yourself compassion for “learning from your mistakes.”

EXAMINE

  1. What’s in my control?
  • Your efforts
  • How you communicate
  • Asking for support
  1. What’s out of my control?
  • Other’s reactions
  • Market conditions
  1. Why do I care?
  • Is this important to me?
  • Why?
  • Is the motivation intrinsic or extrinsic?

REFRAME

Challenge the stories you tell yourself.

  • Is this true?
  • What's the worst that could happen if it wasn’t perfect?
  • What would ‘good enough’ look like in this situation?
  • What would it look like to redirect my energy toward something I can control?

ACT

What action will help me move forward?

  • Don’t overcomplicate it
  • Pick one single action you can take
