Each month, WISE selects a member of the community to share their sales knowledge and story. We are excited to announce Scholastique Koolimo as our January 2024 Member of the Month! She joined the WISE community in 2023.

Why is a community like WISE important to you?

Being a part of a community like WISE is important to me because it allows for mutual support and the exchange of ideas. I can connect with women from various backgrounds who share a similar purpose, and most importantly are always willing to serve one another. Prior to joining WISE, I had uncertainties about what a sales career would entail for someone like me, with a non-traditional background in the industry. I vividly recall attending my first WISE meeting and being surrounded by other women who shared similar stories. It was at that moment that I realized my strong desire to pursue a career in tech sales wholeheartedly. I knew, without a doubt, that I wanted to continue contributing to the community and, ultimately, make a positive impact on other women facing similar circumstances.

What are your goals for 2024?

This year, one of my top priorities was setting intentional goals. I'm currently in the process of transitioning from being a full-time stay-at-home mom to re-entering the workforce, after having owned my own business. Another important goal of mine is to serve others through my creative outlets. To achieve this, I write short stories on my LinkedIn page, sharing lessons I've learned while navigating life as a young adult. However, above all, my main focus is expressing gratitude every day. It's so easy to get caught up in the hustle and bustle of life, which is why I make a conscious effort to stay grounded.

What are your top tips to unwind and reset after hours?

I used to be the kind of person who would work non-stop, around the clock. However, after experiencing severe burnout, I realized the need for balance in my life. I highly recommend finding sacred time each day to spend with yourself. For me, that’s early mornings. I like to spend 30 minutes meditating and expressing gratitude for what’s to come. I also recommend finding two to three things that you truly enjoy doing outside of work. I enjoy watching shows on Netflix, writing, and spending time in nature. There are also times when you'll find me engrossed in a good book. It's crucial to discover what works for you and not feel guilty about it. Life becomes much more fulfilling when it doesn’t revolve around work.
