WISE Member of the Month: October 2023

Each month, WISE selects a member of the community to share their sales knowledge and story. We are excited to announce Jendayi Johnson as our October 2023 Member of the Month! She joined the WISE community this year.

What is your favorite part of being a WISE member?

My favorite part about being a WISE member is seeing the representation of Women in Sales. I transitioned from a career that was made up of predominantly women. When I first told people that I wanted to go into sales, people kept asking me how I was going to deal with working with “all of those sales bros” and it made me doubt that I was going to actually enjoy the field. I know there’s still room for improvement with increasing the number of women represented in sales roles, but WISE provides an additional sense of community amongst women in sales outside of my coworkers.

Are you reading or listening to anything particularly interesting right now? 

I just listened to an episode of Jeb Blount’s podcast Sales Gravy featuring Jahmie Hilecher called 3 Tips to Prevent Burnout and Build Your Mind-Body Connection. In that episode, she talks about how to incorporate mindfulness into your sales role. It was a good reminder to remember to take care of my body holistically.

What’s motivating you right now?

I published my first article on LinkedIn and shared it in a Facebook Group for Speech Pathologists considering a career change. After sharing it with the group, a couple of Speech Pathologists interested in sales reached out to me to learn more about my transition. It felt good to know that my journey could serve as a reassurance to other women who are trying to follow a similar path but were discouraged by the challenges they experienced looking for work outside of the field.
